CARICATURES: LEONARDO DA VINCI
All shown with color removed.
LAUGHING MAN. The longer I stare at these drawing the more images I see! Faces; human and animal! There is an optical illusion of a seemingly endless array of hidden images! Give it a try!
Left profile of face outlined.
Cropped section. See any new images? Sit back and tilt your head to the left. See the big nose man?
Face of big nose man. Eyes and mouth are outlined. But there are other images in this cropped section, keep looking!
Do you the see the partial face of a lion?
Partial face of a lion outlined.
However, as you zoom in for a closer look the face outlined is almost lost as all the smaller images come into view. As well as a wide variety of numbers and letters.
Outlined, are two left profiles and a face with mouth opened is circled. What else do you see?
This doesn't begin to cover all the additional images covering this entire drawing!
Then, rotate the drawing and start all over!
Face of big nose woman outlined.
How many more images can you spot?
If you're still having trouble seeing all the hidden images, let me try something different.
With color restored I've outlined the face of a gorilla.
Face of gorilla. Close up view and I've blacked out the rest of the drawing so as not to confuse you with all the other over lapping images.
Another face of a gorilla outlined.
Face of gorilla with background blacked out. See him?
Head of baby elephant outlined.
Head of baby elephant with background blacked out.
RIGHT CLICK FOR LARGER VIEWS.
Snake with background blacked out. Now are you seeing them? Can you spot all the others?
Rotate again and how many new images do you see?
Another rotation and all new images appear! And then try going back and reversing each of these rotated views and I can assure you, you'll see brand new images! And if you right click on the drawing to open a new window, for a larger view of the drawing, you'll find even more images.
Right click on images for larger views. Even with no enhancements what so ever the faces literally seem to jump off the screen! I hate to spoil all the fun by pointing out all the hidden images. Are you starting to see them on your own?
Try looking at one section at a time. From a distance or close up, given enough time you should start seeing a wide variety of images. Do you see the left profile of a face at the top of her hat? And just below that is a larger left profile. Try tilting her head from one side, then the other side. Sit back and view it from a distance. The images seem to form and fade from one image into another image! Come back later and you'll see new images you hadn't notice before!
What amazes me most is how all these images and illusions have gone unnoticed until now! And may I once again assure you that every single drawing, sketch, painting, etc. by LEONARDO DA VINCI hold a seemingly endless array of hidden images! All it takes is a little time and patience before you begin to spot them on your own!
Rotate. Is that a left profile of a dinosaur's head? Keep looking there's more!
Rotated, reverse image. WOW! All new images! Isn't this fun?
Rotate again and oh yea, try adjusting lighting and even more images appear! I hate to spoil all the fun by outlining the images for you; are you seeing them on your own?
OLD WOMAN WITH A CARNATION: Just sit back stare intently at any area and give it time! Even what seems like empty background space, if you stare at it long enough hidden images begin to grow darker and clearer.
Rotate. All new faces should be emerging from all areas of this drawing! Just pick a spot and keep staring at it until new images begin to appear! I hate to spoil all the fun, so I'm leaving this one for you to find all the hidden images. Once you understand the illusion it really does get easier!
Rotate again. New faces and images!
And again. Time and patience is all it takes!
This is just one of the many amazing gifts LEONARDO DA VINCI left for us to discover! Thank you LEONARDO! Thank you for this beautiful gift!
