Time and patience! If you stare at da Vinci's works of art without thought of the title and merely allow yourself to see what you will see, you will begin to see many other hidden images.
With color removed and lighting enhanced the Virgin, Child and cat are a bit more distinct, but if you sit back and stare at the drawing... What else do you see?

Rotate and new hidden images begin to emerge. Once again I see what is becoming to be known on my site as the "infamous letter "R" found time and again hidden within so many of Leonardo da Vinci's works of art. Do you see it?

Interesting note: If you check my archive article on the SHROUD OF TURIN you'll even discover what appears as a very distinct letter "R" at the entry wound on the back of Christ's wrist. (Shown below.)

Shown close up it looks like the letter "R". And look long enough and the same illusion seen throughout DA VINCI'S art begins to occur as images of eyes and letters begin to take shape. Notice the white "S" in the lower right corner.

But for now back to the drawing of "THE VIRGIN AND ST. ANNE..." 
A closer look at another possible hidden image seems to look like the face of a gorilla.
Another cropped section. The images are so vast it's difficult to separate them at first, but if you'll stare intently the individual shapes new images slowly begin to emerge!

The "HOLOGRAM EFFECT" I refer to throughout my site is still perhaps the best description for what Leonardo da Vinci has done. Hiding layer upon layer of images, numbers, letters and symbols. I believe we could spend a life time and never discover all that da Vinci has left for us to see. Understanding any possible meaning he intended to pass on could take several life times!

Do you see the letter "R"? I see several! As well as a seemingly endless array of images.

If you just give it time the images begin to appear all over this drawing. Eyes everywhere, numbers, faces... Notice the large number 3 in the upper left hand corner. Try tilting your head to one side, then to the other side.
With color removed and lighting enhanced. Notice the eye in the lower right hand corner and the numbers appearing within the hair. And if you stare at the mouth, do you see another face slowly begin to appear?
I truly beg you to sit back and stare intently at this drawing. It is an optical illusion, but if you just give it time the most incredible faces begin to form and fade and form into another face, then the face of a gorilla, then another and another. Everywhere!
Cropped section. Seen up close the faces I saw from a distance are lost momentarily by all the numbers, but then the faces begin to reappear.
Another cropped section. It's very difficult to capture just one image, because you seem to cut into the next forming image. Try looking for the eyes and then see what begins to take shape.
The larger the view the more confusing the images become but just give it time and along with all the gorillas I begin to see the heads of snakes begin to appear.

Stare intently at the area just below and to the left of his mouth and a second face appears.

Does the color change make a difference?
Every single adjustment continues to reveal more and more images. Viewed from a distance or up close more and more images appear. Hours can be spent on any given work of art and still you're left with the feeling that you've only begun to scratch the surface of this amazing hidden world of LEONARDO DA VINCI.
