THE LAST SUPPER: LEONARDO DA VINCI
As with all of Leonardo's works of art all you need to know are a few viewing secrets in order to see all the ILLUSIONS of hidden images. TIME and PATIENCE help too. We tend to want to get as close as possible to these master pieces as we can and this is perhaps how these incredible illusions have actually eluded detection until now! Viewing DA VINCI'S works of art from a distance, as well as from different angles, is a major key in unlocking a vast array of illusions. The use of a mirror placed at a right angle to your computer screen can provide both distance and a variety of viewing angles. And there is something about a loptop's screen that mimics the "HOLOGRAM EFFECT" I mention throughout my site. It also allows you to tilt the screen side to side, up and down just as you would a basic flip-flop hologram. Through the use of modern technology, lighting, color, etc., I'm attempting to merely help you to see the many hidden images a little faster and easier.
With slighting lighting enhancement. Try tilting your head from side to side and stare at this image intently. In this small view, I see large numbers, a "3", "5" and "6" very clearly on the upper left hand side. As well as a larger number "3" to the far right hand side. Click on image for larger view, but be sure and adjust your viewing distance. You may find standing away from your computer screen at different angles to be very helpful, with or without the use of a mirror.
Seen close up the numbers are not as noticeable. But try viewing this from a distance and from different angles and even more numbers seem to appear all over, as well as some other interesting images.
Close up of the other side. Again, more and more numbers begin to appear everywhere. Notice the distinct number "2" third person from the right? And if you'll sit back and tilt your head to the left you'll see a large eye staring back at you! The longer you keep staring at this from different distances and angles, forgetting what you're suppose to see and simply see what your mind and eyes will see, you'll begin to see one hidden image after another slowly emerge out of no way!
I realize this may take a little practice, so I've tried to capture some of the hidden images for you below.

Faces: If you'll just allow yourself enough time you should see at least 5 different faces in this one cropped section, as outlined below.

Two faces outlined. However, I've cut through images of many other faces! And may it be noted again that though I'm an artist... I'm the old fashion kind and I'm afraid my graphic skills leave much to be desired.
A closer look at the top face outlined above.
If I can convince you to think of a basic flip-flop hologram, revealing one image at a time. Viewed from a distance larger faces appear; then as you move in for a closer look the large face is lost for as all the smaller faces begin to appear. So, don't forget to back up. But if you sit back and stare at this cropped section numbers, letters and caricature style smaller faces slowly come into focus. How many smaller face can you count in the last cropped section?
The second outlined face with lighting darkened. It looks like the profile of a bearded man looking to the left.
More and more faces begin to take shape, just give it time!

Keep staring at this tilting your head at different angles. Numbers and letters everywhere and a few animal faces.

Forget what you're looking at and simply see what you see. And remember how large the "Last Supper" is. So try viewing from a distance, from different angles. It is reported that Leonardo would spend hours just looking at his work of art, then perhaps make one minor addition. What all was he seeing? Why did he spend four years on the "Last Supper?" Did the play of light throughout the day and on into evening play a role in changing or revealing hidden images? Which is why I'm using modern technology to try and mimic such lighting changes. And of course we have to realize the extreme damage and restoration which has occurred to this work of art, yet this amazing illusion has endured over 500 hundred years! And there is far, far more to see...

Once again, if you'll stare at these long enough, from different angles and distances, you will begin to see the vast number of hidden images of faces and caritures of faces begin to appear. JUST GIVE IT TIME AND PATIENCE!

I know there are many that will insist that all these hidden images are just flukes, or common anomalies that could be found in all paintings. But I encourage your indulgence in at least viewing a few more of my articles on the seemingly endless array of consistent hidden images that can be found in every single work of art by LEONARDO DA VINCI, before you decide for yourselves if these are mere flukes! This is but one example of the one of the illusions used by DA VINCI. I examine many other methods throughout my site. And have even more to expose within THE LAST SUPPER.
