FIGHT BETWEEN DRAGON AND LION: Leonardo da Vinci
I've stated throughout my blogs, that no special technology is needed to see the vast number of hidden images within Leonardo's drawings or paintings. VIEWING TIP: A mirror placed at a right angle to your computer screen will enable viewing from different angles and distances as well as expands the visual illusions within this drawing. I've utilized basic lighting enhancements in an effort to hopefully help you see these amazing hidden images and illusions faster and easier; however, once you grasp the concept of DA VINCI'S illusions you'll find you can't help but spot the images on your own. I encourage you to ignore the title, to forget what you're suppose to see and simply see what your eyes and mind will see.
Lighting enhanced. First, sit back a bit from your computer screen (viewing from a distance and from different angles is A MUST!) and simply keep staring at this drawing, then slowly begin tilting your head from one side then the other. You should begin to see many other images begin to emerge. (Click on image for larger view, but be sure and adjust your viewing distance.)
A few images are partially outlined in white. Separating the vast number of overlapping images is not an easy task, which is why I insist that DISTANCE, ANGLES, TIME and PATIENCE are your best bets for seeing all that I am seeing.
The number of hidden images in this drawing truly seem endless! Animal and human faces slowly form and fade from one image into another the longer you stare at it. I keep encouraging you to try looking at DA VINCI'S works of art from a distance, from different angles.
Rotated with color and lighting enhanced. Simply pick a spot and continue staring intently at it. With larger images you really must stand away from your computer screen and view from a distance as well as from different angles! The longer you stare the more images you'll begin to notice all over this drawing! (Click on images for larger views.)
Right profile of an animal outlined in black and right profile of a man's face outlined in green.
Frowning bearded man outlined. If you view this from a bit of a distance you should see several other faces.
I ask that you take the time and allow the same consideration you would give a computer generated 3D stereo gram to DA VINCI'S works of art. Of all the incredible inventions this ingenious man came up with, so far ahead of his time, how could any one question his ability to create a "hologram" in the same simplistic manner he applied to all of his inventions or creations? Why is this so difficult to image?
Upside down. Stare intently at each of these examples. Notice the infamous letter "R" top center? As well as many large faces beginning to take shape?
By simply reversing the drawing...
...all new images, faces both animal and human, begin to appear! If you just give it time.
Upside down. Try tilting your head to the right then to the left.
Reversed. Endless faces begin to emerge all over this drawing.
Rotate and more images appear. Remember to allow plenty of viewing distance and different angles.
Reverse. Pick a spot and simply continue staring at it intently, tilting your head at different angles.
First white outlined image top right appears as the right profile of a face. The white outlined image just below and to the left appears as the head of a horse, though I've cut through countless other images that you're hopefully seeing as well!
And with each new position new images emerge one layer then another and another.
Then try a negative view.
Rotated.
Reversed upside down.
In each cropped section there is an amazing number of smaller, detailed images to see. Numbers, letters and/or symbols are among the vast number of images within most of DA VINCI'S works of art.
RIGHT CLICK ON IMAGES FOR LARGER VIEWS. However, larger views should be viewed from a distance in order to see the first set of images. The larger the view, the more layers you begin to see and you may lose sight of the over all illusion I'm trying to enable you to see first.
Some or all of these adjustments may help you to see more of the images easier, but nothing is going to help if you don't give it time and distance! Once you see an image suddenly come into focus I can assure you, you will begin to see more and more images!
Are you beginning to grasp the magnitude of all of this? This is but one drawing out of DA VINCI'S works of art. And I'm most definitely including his manuscripts, study sheets, blue prints of his inventions, any items DA VINCI put his hand to should be considered a unique master piece! Even in pages with no illustrations, just his handwriting, I've found hidden images. Let's face it, this multi-talented genius never did anything in an ordinary way!
And for anyone still thinking all of these hidden images are just fluke anomalies, that DA VINCI did not intentionally do this... Then you've yet to see what I'm seeing! For those of you who have glimpsed just one of these amazing illusions... You will see more. Welcome to the wonderful hidden world of LEONARDO DA VINCI!
I don't know if any of my theories as to how DA VINCI did this are even remotely close to explaining the "how" to all of this and as a person who has always needed to comprehend and understand the how! Or the why! I can only tell you I am simply too overwhelmed and sincerely humbled by the sheer beauty of all that my eyes and brain are trying to absorb; that for the moment at least I don't care how he did it or why he did it! I am merely grateful, so extremely grateful that he did!
What all can you find?
