THE LAST SUPPER: LEONARDO DA VINCI. After restoration.
I still say there appears to be more than one female in this painting! All three of these individuals look more like females than males to me! And if you missed a previous blog regarding facial hair, allow me to repeat this interesting fact. Why are Jesus and the apostles usually always shown with facial hair? Simple, it was Jewish law at that time! Shaving and/or removing facial hair was forbidden under Jewish law at that time!! In many of the paintings I've ever seen of "THE LAST SUPPER" all but the one young apostle John (the baptist) are shown with beards. The explanation that the one apostle was to young to have developed facial hair is usually the excepted and logical reason and one in which I would be willingly to agree with. But why in LEONARDO DA VINCI'S "THE LAST SUPPER" are there a total of four individuals lacking facial hair? An over sight on da Vinci's part? Doubtful but alas, we've no real way of knowing what da Vinci's meaning and or motive may have been. Only speculation! Theory! And a person like myself that will not stop asking... HOWCOMEWHY?
In the next cropped section does anyone else see what appears to be a face on the table in front of this apostle and someone peering over his shoulder?
Face on table.
Peering over shoulder.

Cropped section, rotated from the far right side of the table. It looks like a serpent biting the apostle's robe!
And rotated the opposite direction from the left side of the table what looks like the head of a snake!
With an embossing effect applied.
Again, I insist that modern technology is not necessary to see these endless array of hidden images, letters, numbers, etc., I am merely using every available means of modern technology to hopefully enable viewers to see all the wonderful secrets DA VINCI left for us to discover.
From a distance the different colored garments seem to take on the shape of letters and/or numbers.
Update November 2007. For a great HIGH DEFINITION view visit: http://www.haltadefinizione.com/en/cenacolo/look.asp
Using the zoom feature in the link above if you look closely there appears to be very small, but very clear letters and numbers covering THE LAST SUPPER.
Special thanks to Rob ten Berg www.robtenberge.nl an amazing Dutch artist and da Vinci explorer for sharing this link.
